I sincerely doubt Marc is making money off premium memberships--it probably costs him a fair amount to host this growing collection of large audio files. This is probably just an avenue for keeping the new episodes free.

RE: The European influence in norteno is interesting. I think it is simply a fact that for Europeans immigrating in the late 1800s, there was little difference between the American southwest and northern Mexico.
A real interesting related story is that of the Mexican Mennonites who I would see occasionally on the streets of Mexico City- completely European features, wearing plaid shirts and overalls, selling their artisanal cheese...

Dear admin -- as I said on a previous thread regarding premium content available to app subscribers only, those of us who are "super premium donors" were told we would never have to pay for any episodes. Yes, I realize that this episode will be made available sometime in April, but why are we be treated as second-class citizens? Not all of us have smartphones, and I have no reason to download the app. By the way, still waiting for that other bonus content to make its way to wtfpodshopdotcom.

I'm getting to the point where I'm starting to regret the fat one-time donation I made early on, and starting to think about cancelling my monthly paypal contribution. This is not cool.
