I didn't know who Diablo Cody was, and I've never seen any of her work, but 2 minutes into the interview, it was just painful and I lost interest. I couldn't listen to her speaking - she sounds like a typical Valley girl ditz, with all that "yah", and "supurrr", and "aw my gawd" stuff going on. I want to ask you American guys don't you also think that someone who speaks this way sounds really stupid? Am I supposed to be enchanted by this bored hipster drawl?
Marc, I feel with guests like her, your podcast is taking a turn for the worse. The American film industry, and the Oscars, and anyone involved in movie making, including script writers, mostly don't have anything interesting to say, because they are at heart exceptionally bland and mainstream people who are getting those jobs because they are just bland and middle of the road enough to stand behind all the lame stuff that we see in Movies and on TV.
I'd rather hear about the story of an unknown stand up than to listen to some random Hollywood people who think it's good self-marketing to be on WTF.

Im listening to this one right now... 10 min into it, about to stop... I know this is not an Oscar podcast, is Diablo Cody.. BUT.. if you haven't seen almost ANY of the movies.. then don't try to make a review.. waste of time..

interesting how she dismisses her critics as having a problem with the stripper thing. i once got into an argument about juno wherein the fact that the writer had been a stripper was supposed to make it a good movie. good interview though.
