WTF with Marc Maron Podcast
Sep 10, 2009 28

Patton Oswalt! Lawton Smalls! And our first sponsor! WTF?!?! Marc is joined by his old friend Patton Oswalt to talk about Patton's starring role in "Big Fan" and about the nature of obsession. And speaking of obsessed, delusional conservative Lawton Smalls calls in to tell Marc what's going on in the obsessive world of right-wing nutjobs. Plus, Marc reveals what he's been obsessed about lately, and it's delicious. Also, more fun with Matthew. All this and our first sponsor, JustCoffee.coop. POW!

    Sorry, but Mr. McFeelie
Patton is certainly a great comic, and although I think he gets a lot of criticism for his more sober (and latest) album, it\'s easily his best. It\'s more controlled and purposeful. It reminds me of Louis CK but more eager to maintain nerdom. And it\'s that relic of his former drunken self that few reformed/reforming comics are able to achieve. As Patton furthers his prescence into film, I\'m positive that he will refine his comedy with certain acuity.

Was a big Morning Sedition fan. Well I wasn\'t particulary big. However Mark and Marc et al, made my day, regularly.

Glad you\'re back at it Mr. Maron. Patton Oswalt and Maron bantering was a little bit of heaven for me. Smart people, funny, aware of their own limitations and self absorption.

Although I do feel my brain\'s been ass raped by clowns. And plagiarized.

It was fun hearing Patton Oswalt and Marc talk. It\'s a joy hearing thoughtful people talk organically. Liked Patton\'s observation likening bad pundits to bad comedians, wondering which people he was referring to. I\'ve written about Rightwing pundits and their attempts at comedy, but Glenn Beck is the only prominent wannabe comedian people would know about. Lawton was a bonus.

Oh, yeah...and I\\\'d love to see Tom Johnson come back with \\\"Pendejo the Revolutionary.\\\" Remember when he changed the name of his revolutionary group to \\\"Teabag\\\"? You guys were just ahead of your time.

I love Lawton too, but the problem now is that he just seems all too real.

Any chance of Sammy the Stem Cell making an appearance? James Wolcott was right -- a world without Sammy the Stem Cell might as well just stop turning.

With Just Coffee, Brendan, and Lawton Smalls all involved in this, WTF is officially picking up where Break Room Live left off. And thank the good, sweet deities for that!

Lawton Smalls never fails to slay me.

Oh, I forgot to mention one of my all time fav\'s, Sammy The Stem Cell. Not quite as relevant as when Bush was in the White House but still a great character.

Best Episode yet LAWTON RULES! the comic book obsession relates to me (music for me, put my Velvet Underground collection on another shelf the other day & found out I had over 20 Nico cds alone, at least twice as many Lou ones, at least I do it for a living also) maybe I ought to get a life ha ha.

Is anyone aware that Feral House has a new release for Oct. 1. \"Feral Man in a Feral Land: Strange Tales from the Apocalypse Culture\" by Adam Parfrey. I need to cut myself just not thinking about it.

Good to hear Lawton again, he\'s been really good lately. He\'s such a great play on right-wing whacko\'s. I second Patrick in appealing for Angus McFarquar in addition to Lawton. I\'d also love to hear Lt Ronnie Randolph, Future Marc, Marc The Shark, Pendejo as well as Mort Mortenson and Cardinal Milfington.

As soon as I use up the rest of my BRL blend, I\'ll be buying some more coffee from JustCoffee. Please come out with a WTF Blend.

I think Lawton Smalls is a bit of a one trick pony. Bring in Angus McFarquar.

Okay, I can\'t waste \"ruitment snoozing\" as a Captcha seeing as that\'s what I do IMEADETLY after masterbating to my impressions of Marcs tickely beard. Shame nap my ass, that\'s ruitmentery my friend. After an effort like that I deserve a nap. Don\'t press your sick values on me man!

I\'ve decided in a vain attempt to encourage Marc in his latest venture that I shall develop an uncomfortable (for him) man crush on him. See dude, 3 pod-casts into it and you already have a freaky, weirdo stalker. At least all the stuff you\'ve got on the web anyway. I\'m too lazy to actually stalk you physicaly. Every time I try and get out the door I end up masterbating with my sneakers on. But I think of your beard. Is that needy?

Mission to marzipan. Yes. Steven Colberts Americone Dream is not bad. Willie Nelson Peach Cobbler, OK. The ones where they mix one flavor crammed with fudge chunks, heath bars and coffee beans with another crammed with pineapple, palm leaves and coconut raw cookie dough - that\'s going WAY overboard. Cherry Garcia is my favorite.

I saw Patton at a Rite Aid in Burbank. At first I wasn\'t certain that it was him. I mostly saw his back. Then when he started conversing with the cashier I had to restrain my laughter. Even his voice is funny to me.

I\'m going to get my coffee now.
Why don\'t you guys just hang a mic on him all day?
    A 24/7 \'Big Brother\' kinda thing.
It\'d be hard NOT to make that entertaining.
