Thank you for addressing the Louis CK events. That took a little guts, it’s not easy to admit to being friends with someone who’s been found out to do something despicable. Easier when it’s not public! But you tackled it honestly and I appreciate it.

There has been a lot of discussion about the culture of entertainment or media or comedy that breeds this kind of sexual misbehavior. But I object to that notion. As someone who has worked in the entertainment industry and other industries - it’s not that culture, it’s THE culture. The whole entire culture almost completely flows in the direction of woman as commodity. So, yeah, it’s not any place in particular it is everywhere. And HR department in existence or not men (and women) misbehave sexually at work, at volunteer jobs, in the park with their kids on the playground.... you know what I mean. And women HAVE been speaking out, but typically it is knee jerk dismissed. I don’t know that the reactions to the revealing of this behavior by ‘famous’ people, and people being fired, resigning, out of hand is any different than the dismissal of sweeping it under the rug. Maybe I’m just cynical - I’ve been a woman 52 years, kinda hard not to. But I don’t think the current climate does anything really to change the way men think about women. Unfortunate as it is, it’s just another twig off the women’s movement (which was the right thing and necessary but failed to bring men along in my opinion) and I fear the backlash.

Standing by your friend is an admirable act. We all need to support each other even when we know that our friends have messed up. They need our love and whatever forgiveness/ comfort we can provide.
