Dr. Stephen Dansiger is better known to the WTF audience as Marc's trusty psychotherapist friend Dr. Steve. But most listeners probably don't know about his own painful journey from rock stardom, through drugs and alcohol, into mental hospitals, beyond disappointment, and ultimately to sobriety, getting his PhD and starting a family. This episode is sponsored in part by Comedy Central.

Ok, this interview is over two years old, I don't care.I gotta tell ya: Anna Deavere Smith's solo show you refer to in this one about the Crown Heights riots is called "Fires in the Mirror".

An excellent interview and a fascinating guest. I bought the Pianosaurus album when it came out and have enjoyed it for twenty-plus years--Kudos to Dr. Dansiger and the rest of the band. I hope someone finds and releases that second album someday.

Man, this episode spoke directly to me. One of my favorites. Thanks to both of you.

Loved it, thanks to both of you. As I listened to you guys, I thought about another audio-event that led me to studying up on meditation via American Buddhism: a couple of years ago Susan Piver did an interview with Wisconsin Public Radio that helped me change what I do to face life. Steve confirmed a lot of what she taught. But what was new to me was the notion that providing therapy is creative work. Nice. Thanks.
